🖊 🖊 🖊 and for Nikka too while we’re at it
oc asks.
angry old man (affectionate)
due to spending the large majority of his life in Circles (and bouncing between them), I’ve always seen Nikka as like, not necessarily having the best social skills, or at least like… age-appropriate ones. with that kind of cloistered upbringing, it seems not I likely on my mind. it means that, despite being the oldest of all my oc’s, he definitely often handles situations/reacts to things in a way that can seem immature for his age. it’s also why he’s just like… not good at talking to people in general. Nikka almost always manages to say the wrong thing, he’s too blunt and too quick to anger, and his stubbornness makes him refuse to apologize for any of it.
Nikka very much considered not joining up with the Inquisition. he didn’t really have a choice but to go along with things at first, he was a prisoner and he knows well what happens when you don’t do what a Templar (or Templar-adjacent figure, whatever) wants, he wasn’t in a position to refuse because he ya know… values his life. but after that… he was constantly looking for a chance to slip away, knowing him, or really his mark, wouldn’t be allowed to just leave. I honestly haven’t decided what actually convinces Nikka to stay, or if he just like… keeps telling himself that any day now he’s gonna go, or what. but more or less, he hates it there lmfao.
idk how else to put this besides Nikka likes… weather. he hasn’t gotten a lot of outside time in the past 3+ decades, and a lot of that is ‘his fault’ for being… difficult, and not being afforded the measly amount of time outdoors that some others. the first time he felt that rain after starting a life of apostasy post-chantry explosion Nikka nearly wept. this bitter, hardened man gets an almost childlike look of joy on his face when snow falls. and despite the chill, it’s not uncommon to find him on Skyhold’s ramparts with his face turned up to the sun.

Just a random 🖊. I realized we’ve been mutuals for ages and I barely know anything about your OCs!
oc asks.
:D! there are... so many of them (unfortunately?) lmao. gonna start with something i've been thinking a lot about lately re: one of my Trevelyans...
Nikka tries real hard to be a good and supportive significant other when Cullen decides on doing that whole 'templar retreat' thing after the events of Inquisition. but it proves to be too much for him to handle (a mage of all things isn't necessarily conducive to the type of healing those people require, and old biases die hard, including Nikka's own), and so he runs off without a word to join Bull and the Chargers for a stretch while he... figures his shit out.
#DA oc's are always a nice easy way to start lol#oc: nikka trevelyan#oc tag#ask memes#oc memes#dragon age

For Nikka:
Eros 2, 5
Philia 3, 4
Storge 5
Agape 2, 5
Ludus 5
Pragma 2
Philautia 1, 3, 5
oc love asks.
like I was telling you, I feel like I over-answered all of these cause I was trying hard not to make Nikka sound like a total prick lmfao.
—
Eros/2: sex in a relationship is pretty important to Nikka in the sense that like… that’s pretty much the basis of his relationships, ha. they sure aren’t feelings-based, Nik won’t allow for that. it was too complicated and risky when he was in the Circles (or… bouncing around them). since then, he’s also found it to be a good way to convey words and feelings that he can’t make himself express/let himself actually have (see: his entire relationship with Cullen). but the more he distance himself from his years in a Circle, and the more he grows… I don’t think he’d see it as quite as ‘vital’ anymore, because there finally is more to relationships.
Eros/5: Nikka doesn’t put too much thought into his looks, so it doesn’t factor in a whole lot to his self-confidence. he knows he’s a fairly handsome guy, and that’s nice and all, but it doesn’t really matter. the only time his confidence in his appearance kind of take a hit is when he starts getting with Cullen who’s like… 10-15 years (haven’t settle on an exact age) his junior. Cullen is like the human embodiment meant of heroic carved statue and, and he is… an old mage who shows how much he’s been beaten down by the world. but even then, there’s bigger issues in their relationship than if he’s hot enough for Cullen and it still doesn’t factor in a whole lot, ha.
Philia/3: patience and understanding are probably things that Nikka, even if he isn’t specifically looking for that, could use in his friendships. surprising absolutely no one, Nikka has a bad habit of saying or doing the exact wrong thing or making situations worse, but the thing is… for the most part, he is really trying. yeah, he definitely sometimes purposefully says bitchy, biting things as a defensive mechanism, but that’s a whole separate issue. this is just… Nik trying his best in social situations and still not quite getting there/coming off in ways he doesn’t intend. it’s why he really really appreciates people like Iron Bull who, for some reason unbeknownst to everyone, including Nik, thinks Nikka is absolutely hilarious. bff’s.
Philia/4: Nikka has a hard time making friends with anyone, but definitely with people really different from him, at least like… when it comes to their views. this kinda goes with Philautia/3, in that he’s… kinda judgmental, so if he doesn’t have people on the same page as him, he tends to struggle more than usual, mostly because he just uhhh. doesn’t try. you know that like ‘this isn’t a disagreement over pizza toppings’ thing re: when you can disagree about things and still be friends? there’s very few of Nik’s beliefs that he sees as trivial enough to be on that level.
Storge/5: it’s not a singular person that Nikka has loved unconditionally, but a group—any of the young mages that found themselves in the circle. Nik may act like his heart is made of ice, but he has such a soft spot them, loves them like they are his own kin, wants to care for them and protect them at all costs, and he has no expectation of anything back from any of them in return. they can hate him for all he cares (and I’m sure some of them do—loving them also means calling them out on shit, and we know Nikka can be fairly… blunt, to put it nicely), so long as they’re safe. it’s probably a reflection of the type of love he didn’t feel he got. and it’s also not something he has afforded to others besides the little magelings.
Agape/2: I know what you’re getting at here because I’ve shared the ‘Nikka loves weather’ fact recently lol, and he does, and he loves nature, and all things outside in general, but I dunno that he considers that a necessarily ~spiritual~ connection (mostly because he doesn’t consider himself much or a spritual person, period), just a byproduct of a few decades of captivity. the feelings that it inspires though, the thrill and sense of freedom and peace that comes from simple things like lying in tall grass or feeling mud between his toes or snowflakes sticking in his eyelashes… it probably is akin to something spiritual.
Agape/5: Nikka really does not even try to empathize with his enemies. if you are against him, or he perceives you as against him, then that’s that. he can maybe be a little too black and white on things like that, refusing to acknowledge nuance or exceptions to rules (rules which he has determined, which aren’t always fair). it takes a lot of outside coercion/convincing to convince Nikka to like, maybe not be so harsh in his judgment at all times. sometimes the enemy perceives is not nearly as great as he makes it out to be (see: his detestation for all Templars on principle, for one example).
Ludus/5: answered heeere.
Pragma/2: the biggest challenge Nikka has had to overcome while in a relationship is probably like… what made that same relationship such a struggle in the first place, and that’s his distrust (and honestly, hate) that he has for Templars on principle. as I’ve said before, Cullen and him have history, and just about none of it good, and so when you combine those things, then… it was a big struggle. Nikka needed to work through lot of biases/prejudices and uhhh, stop lashing out at Cullen unjustifiably (it…wasn’t a good relationship at first, if you could even call it that) and decide if he wanted to try to make a relationship actually work. believe it or not it was also a Templar who helped Nikka through a lot of it, because despite the positions they find themselves in now, in now, Samson was once the one Templar Nik ever trusted, and now he’s sitting in the Inquisiton’s dungeon…
Philautia/1+5: putting these together because they’re really similar in this case. when Nikka was younger, his view of his own worth/value was a little skewed… he’d been willingly given up by his parents, he’d been told verything about him was bad and wrong simply because he’d developed magic, he learned that at best he was a tool to serve others. Nikka was so angry about all of that, and he stewed in that anger. and over time, that opinion of himself changed over time, learning that being a mage didn’t make him any lesser, refusing to see himself that way or to let anyone make him feel like less than he is. it’s why, after he decides that he’s actually going to stay with the Inquisition and not flee into the night, he has to put some work into not going on a power trip. because it’s be really great to show people how powerful he is and how he’s not to be messed with.
Philautia/3: Nikka is definitely a little judgey, and a little hypocritical in that judgment. he seems to have excuses/justifications for all of his behavior (I have never done anything wrong in my life.jpg) and why it should be acceptable/why it isn’t that bad. Nik has a bit of a complex about how like… he’s earnedsome leeway after how much shit he’s been through. but he doesn’t tend to afford the same to other people, and Nik can be pretty… harsh in response. it’s something he’s working on, even if it doesn’t seem like it/seem like it’s going well lmao.
#Cullen and him get their shit together it’s FINE#oc: nikka trevelyan#dragon age#oc tag#oc memes#ask memes

Ludus – Playful, Flirtatious Love. For whoever you fancy?
oc love asks.
I didn’t know if you wanted a specific number(s) so I went through all for the category lol. Nikka, because idk why but he is taking up so much brain space right now.
—
1/2: combining these two because they go pretty hand in hand. Nikka is a miserable flirt, he is not practiced whatsoever and pretty much all attempts crash and burn. there wasn’t a whole lot of use for it in his like… 30 years living in a Circle (see 5 also), and most of them were all pretty equally awkward about it, so his only real (usually unspoken) ‘line’ was along the lines of ‘hey we’re trapped here together forever, wanna make the best of it?’ lmfao. now his disaster attempts at flirting are mostly entertainment for Iron Bull (who is also usually who Nikka ‘practices’ on, because the lines aren’t actually necessary for the hookup to happen).
3: which speaking of that, Nikka has zero problem with just hooking up and/or one night stands. it’s kinda like, all he does. doesn’t mind going back to the same person, but he refuses to let it be anything real. feelings are… dangerous, and they can be used against him so easily, especially in a Circle. so he thought it was for the better not to form any actual romantic (or otherwise) attachments.
4: no settled gender, it doesn’t really matter one way or another, but Nikka’s first crush was as a kid on the first person about his age that he saw just like… use magic. it’s different with the adults who are practiced (even if they’re still reserved), but there was a lot of nerves/fear in their younger group, not wanting to do harm or get in trouble, and Nik was still struggling with feeling like garbage for being handed over for having magic, so to see this kid accept it, enjoy it… it got his attention (if that makes sense ha). but it was a pretty short lived thing when he realized he wanted to be like that more than he was attracted to that.
5: honestly most ‘seduction’ is probably wasted on Nik lmao. subtlety and innuendo isn’t necessarily lost on him, he does understand, but what works best is just like… being direct with him. no bullshit, just let him know what is wanted. seduction only became something of a game when it came to Cullen (a messy, dangerous one), because there is too much history there to just like, get to the point and admit to the feelings.
#thank you for asking I could talk about all of them foreverrrrr#oc: nikka trevelyan#oc tag#oc memes#ask memes#dragon age

100 prompt list:
4, 17 for inquisitor Nikka and Cullen
still taking prompts.
slowly picking away at these! the oc ones are harder 😂 I know I already 'apologized' to you about this, but this one got long because I had to include enough background information that you already know but another reader would need for this to make sense lmao.
Nikka Trevelyan (also of twitter fame), bitter old circle mage. dilf energy without the kids. him and Cullen did NOT used to get along, understandable since they've known each other since Cullen's first assignment, but have since clawed their way into respect, and trust, and something special
4. “I think I’m in love with you and I’m terrified.”
17. “It’s pitch black and I can still see you blushing.”
--
It was supposed to be different now.
Cullen hadn’t been able to take the state of Nikka’s and his ‘relationship,’ whatever that even was. They’d at least moved past the constant animosity-verging-on-hostility, and even the stage that followed where they still clung to the act for the sake of appearances and lying to themselves about true feelings, but even after that was a constant back and forth, hot and cold battle with Nikka. Any time Cullen thought they were progressing toward actually being something, Nikka would pull back, shut him out, only to come around again when it was convenient for him or he was looking to crawl into Cullen’s bed. Cullen could have said no, should have said no, but he never turned Nikka away.
Until he did.
After another bout of being on the ‘cold’ end of Nikka’s moods, with Nik either coming up with excuse after excuse to not be around, or flat out ignoring Cullen, the Inquisition found itself in Halamshiral at the Winter Palace. As if their being there wasn’t spectacle enough, Nikka decided to create more of one.
Cullen acquired quite the gaggle of nobility around him in the ballroom, those looking to chat, to schmooze, to harass. Nikka still swore it was strictly the last part that had him stepping in and coming to Cullen’s ‘rescue,’ but Cullen knew it for what it was. There was concern in the action, yes, but also a possessiveness over Cullen, and mostly it was for Nikka’s own amusement.
Nikka had swooped in, placed a hand at the small of Cullen’s back, and leaned in close with a murmur of, “There you are… I’ve been looking all over,” before apologizing to the semi-circle of bodies around Cullen, because, “I need to borrow my Commander for a moment,” with a very pointed ‘my.’ He led Cullen away after that, and once they were somewhere more private Nikke decided he could spare a few minutes from his sneaking about to push Cullen into a shadowy corner and do to him what all those sniveling Orlesians only dreamed they’d be able to.
It took all of Cullen’s willpower to tell Nikka to stop, and once a reluctant Nik did, that’s when Cullen finally cracked. This wasn’t fair. Nikka didn’t get to come around then after weeks of barely giving him the time of day now that it was convenient or humorous or scandalous or however else one wanted to describe it. It may have been foolish, ill-advised at best, but Cullen was honestly falling for Nikka, and it wasn’t okay for Nikka to be screwing around with his feelings like this, particularly in front of an audience. So Cullen finally told him that Nik needed to figure out what it was he wanted and stop messing with his heart. Until then… Cullen couldn’t do this anymore—whatever ‘this’ was.
They’d figured it out eventually. Uncertain futures both of self and world had a way of putting into perspective what was really important, and to Nikka, that was Cullen. He’d apologized, acknowledged the shitty way he’d been treating Cullen and how right Cullen was to call him on it, and said he wanted to fix things. Nikka assured Cullen this was what he wanted—that Cullen was what he wanted.
Now, Cullen wondered if he was a fool for ever believing it.
It’d been going good for a while between them. Once Cullen was reassured that they were on the same page, it was a lot easier to be patient with Nikka, knowing this was unfamiliar, uneasy territory for him, but that Nik was actually trying now. But then Nikka started to pull away from him again, and Cullen even tried bringing it up, thinking that maybe if he pointed it out, they could address it, figure out what was causing it, and move past it. No such luck. Nikka refused to acknowledge it was happening.
It wasn’t entirely like the way Nikka used to pull back, though. Something was different this time. Sometimes, it seemed like Nikka was on the verge of telling him. Around the war table, after discussions in Cullen’s office, or even lying in bed with each other… sometimes Cullen would catch a look, or Nik opening and closing his mouth like the words were right there, but then he seemed to think better of it, and if Cullen ever tried to nudge him about it, Nikka would shake his head, say he didn’t know what Cullen was talking about.
Each time it happened, it seemed to take Nikka a little bit longer to shake the funk that followed, each time it seemed to take a little bit longer for them to get back to normal. Cullen didn’t like to think the worst, but there was one explanation for Nikka’s behavior that stuck in his head more than the rest.
Nikka wanted to end it with him.
The thoughts nagged at Cullen. Nikka thinking the relationship had run its course. Him having given the relationship an honest shot, but just not feeling that way about Cullen anymore. Not every relationship was meant to be forever, and Cullen didn’t doubt that what they had was real while it lasted, but now Nikka’s heart had moved on and he was looking for a way to tell Cullen. He tried telling himself it was okay—heartbreaking, but still okay—but it hurt no less to know it was over.
Cullen knew he was nearing the end of his rope when it came to waiting for Nikka to finally say something, but he willingly let the frayed ends slip through his fingers one night in Nikka’s quarters. He’d had enough.
It’d become the usual for Cullen to slip into Nikka’s room at the end of the day, and that night was no different, but as we walked in, it was to Nikka sitting at his desk with his head in his hands. Cullen might have teased over the sight, wondering how many times Nikka had breezed into his office and done the same, asking if he was starting to rub off on the Inquisitor, but then Nikka lifted his head and there was that look again, the one Cullen couldn’t quite parse. It pinned Cullen in place. This would finally be it, this is when it would happen.
Cullen decided there was no time delaying it. “Well, let’s hear it then,” Cullen prompted, trying not to sound as hurt as he felt.
Nikka’s expression turned confused then. “I’m sorry?” he questioned.
“You’re leaving me,” Cullen said. “Isn’t that what this has been about?” All Nikka’s behavior lately… The sad looks, the avoidance, the shutting Cullen out… It’d been leading up to this moment, to Nik saying they were through.
Nikka’s eyes went wide and he stood from behind his desk, but like always seemed to be the case lately, words failed him, mouth opening to say something then snapping shut before anything fell from it. Cullen’s suspicions seemed to be confirmed, Nikka’s fumbling, Cullen assumed, a product of being caught out, not expecting Cullen to broach the subject before he could.
Cullen gave a nod of his head. “Right, well…” A thick swallow. “Can’t say it’s not a shame—” an understatement “—but, if that’s the case…” Cullen wasn’t going to beg Nikka to change his mind, he had a little more self-respect than that.
He turned to leave then, feeling heat climbing up his neck into his cheeks and a lump forming in his throat, but he was stopped by an urgent, “Cullen, wait,” as Nikka rounded his desk and crossed the room toward him.
Nikka got the effect he wanted, Cullen stilled, turned back to him, but there was then the issue that he really didn’t know what to say next. A part of him had said that he should let Cullen walk away, that this would solve the whole problem he’d been warring with, but a louder part had screamed at him on repeat to tell Cullen don’t go, don’t go, don’t go. If Cullen did, Nikka never would have forgiven himself. Even he wasn’t so cowardly as to let go of such a good thing just because it was safer.
“Really, Inquisitor,” and didn’t the use of the title at that moment sting, “I don’t think there’s anything else that needs to be said. I’ll take my leave—”
“I think I’m in love with you and I’m terrified,” Nikka blurted all at once. Okay?”
That was… quite the opposite of what Cullen expected.
Nikka let out a frustrated noise before scrubbing his hands over his face. He knew he needed to get out everything he needed to say before he second-guessed it, lost his nerve, took it all back, but it was hard.
It wasn’t that same fear that held Nikka back from accepting how he felt about Cullen in the first place. That was all about how Nikka thought of Cullen as representing everything he hated. Loyal to the Chantry to a fault. Too naive when they first met to see the errors in the ways of the Templars, actually thinking he could do some sort of good in a position like that. Too under the thumb of his Knight-Commander later on to acknowledge those same errors, leaning even harder into his role and what he thought his duty was. And then came meeting once more through the Inquisition. Nikka had originally been reluctant to cooperate with Cullen, but it was hard to maintain when for once, they were actually on the same side, and that was even before they started to find things about each other they respected, liked.
Now it wasn’t so much agonizing over what was building between them, but what all could now be lost, and that’s what Nikka told Cullen. Nikka had grown… rather attached to Cullen—don’t, Nikka warned, this was hard enough without that little smile pulling at Cullen’s scarred lip—and now Nik was terrified of losing him, and the more he felt for Cullen, the more he felt that great, looming fear.
And it wasn’t just that. No one’s future was guaranteed, this he knew, but people like them, people at the heart of the conflict who kept throwing themselves headlong at it, they stood even less of a chance of coming out on the other side of everything unscathed. In particular, Nikka had never been optimistic about his making it out alive, not with his being the main target of an elder god, not with the glowing, green pain-in-the-ass anomaly in the palm of his hand. He didn’t want to put Cullen through the same thing he was so worried about either.
Nikka tried to quickly add, “Not to presume you feel the same—” but cut himself off as Cullen stepped forward and wrapped him in his arms.
“You’re not leaving me.” Cullen said it with as much surety as he had the opposite only a short time earlier, but this time he wasn’t limiting it to their relationship. Everytime Nikka marched off to what could very well be his demise, he always came back to Cullen, and Cullen had to believe the same would continue to be true.
“How can you be so sure—”
“You’re not,” Cullen said, all the more adamant. He tightened his hold around Nikka.
Nikka didn’t have the same conviction, but for now he could let it lie. That was… quite enough for one night. He didn’t know how Cullen could be both the one who cause so much turmoil in him, and the one who could so easily take it away again. Nikka sucked in a deep breath and pulled back from Cullen, if only just enough to say, “You really thought I’ve been trying to find a way to break this off with you?”
The blush that Cullen had been trying to fight off earlier now fully colored his cheeks. “I may have jumped to some conclusions,” Cullen admitted. “But you have to understand how it looked…”
Nikka did understand, and he apologized for how he’d been acting, telling Cullen that he really would try to come to him when he was freaking out instead of spiraling all on his own. That was agreeable to Cullen and all he really asked for from him—for Nik to try—and anyway it was hard for him to continue stressing when Nikka was then kissing him, asking him if they could go to sleep. Nikka was very done with the day, ready to really bring it to an end.
As they lie together in the dark, Cullen went back and forth on whether he should open his mouth once more, but there was one thing he realized that he hadn’t said, that he should say. “You know I feel the same right?” In both regards, the lover and the terror, but mostly the former.
Nikka only grumbled something noncommittal under his breath and tightened his hold on Cullen, and Cullen couldn’t help himself, he teased, “It’s pitch black and I can still see you blushing.” It’s not something Nikka would ever admit to, but Cullen had seen it happen, the ruddy flush crawling across Nik’s cheeks, usually at times like this when Cullen knew all the talk of feelings had flustered him.
“Cullen…” Nikka growled in warning.
Cullen let out a quiet laugh and tucked himself closer against Nikka, but otherwise he remained quiet and it earned him a kiss pressed to his temple. He wanted to say the words, wanted to repeat them over and over again, but for the night it could wait. Nikka knew, and that’s what was important. Besides, Cullen wanted to wait until he could fully see that blush when he told Nikka in no uncertain terms ‘I love you.’

Hehe. I’m back with more inquisitorial questions (ha). This time for inquisitor Nikka 👀👀
7, 17, 21, 25, 29, 33, 36, 41, 43, 44, 45
oc asks.
god these make Nikka Trevelyan seem like SUCH an asshole and like. i know he kind of is, but... he's good in there somewhere, he's just angry and scared at the forefront.
--
7. Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?
A smothering darkness. Sometimes the whole nightmare is that way, sometimes it creeps its way in til it overtakes everything. Also confinement, be it him trapped some place or bound or whatever.
17. What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?
Wooden sword! He liked to ‘spar,’ or in other words, whack people with it. Keeping up with practicing became… rather difficult what with the whole being in a Circle thing, so you can imagine how thrilled he was when later in the Inquisition, he ends up being taught how to do the whole spirit blade thing. Combining his love of his magic and his love of swords, haha.
21. If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others?
Nik is quick to blame others, because in his mind it’s usually because someone didn’t listen to him/do what he said that things went wrong. He thinks he’s endured enough bullshit in the course of his life that he does NOT deserve anymore. It couldn’t possibly be him that caused the problem, he’s a victim…
25. How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person?
Nikka is the type of person who tends to assume the worst of people, and that way it’s better if they end up pleasantly surprising him later on. If someone is like, at all Chantry affiliated, that suspicion is tenfold lmao, hard to believe there’s any good intentions under all that.
29. What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?
Not to be like, an ultra bummer, but he didn’t have a whole lot of time to consider the ~what I wanna be when I grow up~ question before any chance at ‘dreams’ were crushed via the whole being in a Circle thing. He was pretty young at the time he got sent off, he didn’t have much concept of what the future held except ‘nobility.’ Then later in life… Free? Happy? Do those things count? He’s at least halfway there, he supposes.
33. In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve?
So defensive. Nikka does not take criticism well whatsoever. He doesn’t like to be wrong, often times refuses to believe he could possibly be, and so he gets a little pissy if anything other is implied. He knows his decisions aren’t necessarily popular, but as mentioned above he always thinks they’re the best course of action regardless, and he doesn’t like to be challenged on that.
36. How does your character behave around people they dislike?
Obviously. Ha. If Nikka doesn’t like a person, they will for sure know it. He doesn’t tend to hold back on speaking what’s on his mind, and is very blunt in the delivery too (regardless of how many times it’s gotten him in trouble). Sometimes he’s a little better at holding his tongue, but it’s still pretty clear by the look on his face when he just does not like someone or what they’re saying/doing.
41. Does your character feel that they deserve to have what they want, whether it be material or abstract, or do they feel they must earn it first?
At this point, yeah, Nikka think he deserves to have what he wants. After having been passed between several circles, he’s seen and experienced the worst they have to offer (RIP Nik for having to deal with the Kinloch AND Kirwall messes), and then he’s chucked into saving the world as a ‘herald’ of a religion he does NOT believe in only to have problem after problem come up with that. There’s been so much bad that he definitely DOESN’T deserve, At the very least, Nikka thinks he d e s e r v e s to be left alone for a while lmao
43. Has your character ever had a dependent figure who was not related to them?
A gaggle of them, sort of. As Nikka got older, he became more and more protective of the younger mages within whatever Circle he was in at the time. No Templar was allowed to turn their sights on or lay a hand on any of them. Nik would purposely put himself in harms way or take the fall for things that weren’t his fault if it meant keeping them off the Templars’ radar. Not like he wasn’t already rocking the boat and causing his own trouble… it was expected of him, best to put that to good use. Nikka wanted to stand up for the kids the way he wished someone had for him.
44. How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?
With Nik’s current partner? lmao. Because of their history with each other, what Cullen was and what Nikka always will be, and the fundamental distrust they both held toward each other at the start, it made love seem impossible (and absolutely terrifying), so it took a long time to get there emotionally, let alone then express the words (which isn’t a strong suit for Nikka in the first place). Not that I think it’s THAT much easier for him to say it with anyone else either. It takes him a while to feel comfortable enough with saying it, and he’s not the type of person to throw it around casually (even if he’s said it before).
45. What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?
When you die, you’ll be dead. That’s it. Fuck ‘going to the Maker’s side’ or whatever bs the Chantry always spouts. There’s honestly much more comfort in thinking he’ll become fertilizer than end up with that piece of work o wandering the Fade.
#I also still feel bad i don't actually understand q25 and have just been making up my own inerp lmao#oc: nikka trevelyan#oc tag#ask memes#oc memes

Here’s one for the grump inquisitor 👀
Nikka
1, 7, 15, 32, 47
oc questions.
Nikka Trevelyan, grumpy but trying.
--
1. Do they have any crafting hobbies?
I wouldn’t necessarily call it a hobby, per se, but Nikka isn’t bad at crafting in general. He has a tendency toward homemade gifts, mostly stemming from having to make do during his time in various Circles. Nike always feels a little embarrassed handing over something he’s made to someone, but he’s developed a pretty good knack for it at this point.
7. Do they have any unusual fears?
Nugs. Nikka just CAN’T get on board with them. He doesn’t throw the term abomination around lightly due to the whole mage thing lmao, but bugs just might be. Weird, fleshy little creatures. Some people farm and eat them? Some people keep them as pets?? SOmetimes they were running around at Kinloch and he Did Not like that shit. They just freak him out. And yes Leliana finds it hilarious, and yes she uses this knowledge to her advantage.
15. What kind of sense of humor do they have? Or do they have one at all?
Very dry, lmao. A lot of times his jokes come off the wrong way, or people take what he says too seriously because I mean, who would blame them, Nikka is a fairly ‘serious’ person over all, he seems very no-nonsense. The only one who truly seems to get his sense of humor is Iron Bull, he straight up thinks Nikka is hilarious, despite the crazy eyed looks it gets him from every else. He knows that Nikka is necessarily actually trying to be a dick, that his social skills are just… not necessarily at the level of most others’.
32. If they could change one thing about themselves what would it be?
His temper. It’s a LOT better than it used to be, but Nikka knows he still has a long way to go. He’s still really easy to anger, even if he’s not as quick to act on it anymore. And if he perceives a slight/etc., he get’s very defensive and IS quick to jump on that person, not letting them explain themselves and often putting words in their mouth. It’s… not a good way to forge relationships with people, and Nikka is really trying to be better.
47. Would they lie to get someone else out of trouble? Even if they would have to take that someone else's place?
Nikka has and he would again in a heartbeat in the same set of circumstances. He’d always do it for the younger mages in the Circles, taking responsibility for what would have otherwise gotten them in trouble because they’re just kids and they don’t deserve what would happen to them (not that anyone did, but). The same doesn’t apply to now in the ‘real world,’ at least not with adults. If you fuck up, take responsibility for it. It’s uh… maybe something Nik is working on himself too…
